The Rose and Crown Hotel

The Rose & Crown Hotel occupies a beautiful and striking building within the heart of the historic town of Clitheroe. This delightful Hotel has as much charm as it has history. There is very good evidence that there has been a public house on the site of The Rose & Crown since Tudor times. The building as it stands today was built in 1836 and up until 1860 it played a prominent part in the life of the local people, even being used as the county court at one time.

The Rose & Crown Hotel has undergone extensive renovation in more recent years. It is now one of the main public houses in Clitheroe as well as being an exquisite hotel used by visitors to the area. It is situated on the main street and close to Clitheroe Castle, which is well worth a visit. Owners Michelle and Nigel have been running the business for just a year, but since their arrival the popularity of the Hotel has increased, which is hardly surprising as they have nearly 30 years experience in the industry.

The public house is open all day, every day, with food served from Monday to Saturday from 11:30am to 3pm and from 12pm to 3pm on a Sunday. Evening meals are available on request. There is a printed menu as well as a specials board to choose from and there is also a children's menu. A professional chef will prepare your meal using as much locally sourced produce as possible and will cater for any special dietary requirements. There is also a selection of real ales to enjoy, some from Lancashire's own Thwaites Brewery range.

For those looking for accommodation in Clitheroe, The Rose & Crown is an excellent choice. Upstairs there are twelve comfortable and spacious Bed and Breakfast rooms available all year around with prices from £30 per person. All rooms enjoy excellent decor and furnishings, an en suite bath/shower room, tea and coffee making facilities, a colour television, ironing equipment and cots are available on request. A stay at the Rose & Crown Hotel will be a memorable one and with nearby attractions and stunning scenery to enjoy it is the perfect location for a family getaway or a romantic break.

Andrew Buchanan, Director of Pub Operations at Thwaites said: “Nigel and Sarah have done a fantastic job since taking over The Rose and Crown and I’m delighted that their hard work and commitment has been recognised particularly by the Great British Pub Awards. We are delighted to see a partnership approach such as the investment in the Rose & Crown pay off so well. They have had a great year in 2011 and long may their success continue.”

For your convenience there is off road parking, good level access downstairs and disabled toilets. Pets are welcome and there is no smoking.
