At the end of her second successive term as President, Karin Wilson of K Accountancy, Whalley Road paid tribute to her Executive Committee and all Chamber members, saying “It has been a privilege to work with everyone who has contributed to make the Chamber such a successful and focused vehicle for promoting Clitheroe.

In the last two years we have launched the highly popular Shop Clitheroe loyalty card which has gone from strength to strength and held many Business Education events where topics have been as diverse as Rateable Values and how to appeal them, to First Aid courses showing how to use a defibrillator. As always the Executive Committee have continued to work tirelessly on a whole number of initiatives, including the annual Santa Dash, flags and bunting as well as organizing street furniture for Castle Street at the Food festival to name a few. Of course, as I hand over to him I would like to add my special thanks to my Vice President Tony Gould for all his support and our secretary Nina Driver for dealing with all the day to day correspondence.”

The incoming President Tony Gould of Party People, Castle Gate, thanked both Karin and Nina for their hard work and presented them with a bouquet of flowers each as a token of appreciation from the Chamber’s members. Retiring Treasurer Andrew Hale, of Andrew Hale Photography, Pimlico Road, was sent a bottle of whisky as he was unable to attend. Tony then asked Daniel Williams of Sawley Studios & Whitesands Media to join him as the new Vice President at the top table as Karin Wilson took over the role as Treasurer. Thanking Karin for her time as President.

Tony commented “Karin has been a fantastic President and I will do my utmost to continue the good work she has so effectively carried out, at the same time thanking her for taking on the treasurer’s job. Our styles may differ, but we all have Clitheroe’s interests at heart and I look forward, with Daniel at my side, to the next twelve months at the helm. This year for the first time  we are hosting an Easter Bunny Hunt around the town from Thursday March 27th, with the winner being presented with a giant chocolate bunny from The Chocolate Box, King Street, Clitheroe. As the economic outlook continues to improve I am confident that The Chamber will continue to thrive and Clitheroe will be an excellent location for all kinds of commerce and business. Membership of Clitheroe Chamber of Trade and Commerce costs just £50 per annum and includes affiliate membership of The East Lancashire Chamber including access to Commercial Services, Internet and E-Commerce, as well as training and legal advice. At less than a pound a week it is fantastic value.”
